The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is proud to announce that it has been recognized on the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers in 2024 and is the highest-ranking school board in Ontario.

“It is an honour to lead a board that employs so many talented and dedicated individuals at every level of the organization,” said Tracy Barill, DCDSB Director of Education. “A recognition of this nature reflects the important contributions made by everyone to support a positive workplace, individual well-being, and a sense of community. As we expand and diversify, we are committed to ongoing engagement with new and existing staff to ensure that all feel welcome and supported to continue to do their best work every day.”

Canada's Best Employers in 2024 were identified through a partnership between Forbes and market research firm Statista. An independent survey from a vast sample of over 40,000 Canada-based employees working for companies employing at least 500 people within Canada was completed. Over 900,000 employer evaluations were considered. The final score is based on two types of evaluations:

  1. Personal Evaluation:
    a. Employee’s current opinion of their employer overall: respondents were asked to gauge their overall willingness to evaluate their employer to family and friends.
    b. Employee’s Previous Employers: respondents were also asked to rate their willingness to recommend any previous employers of the last two years
  2. Public Evaluation: Participants were also given the chance to evaluate other employers in their respective industries, or the employers of friends, acquaintances, and family members that stand out either positively or negatively.

“We are so pleased to be awarded as one of Canada’s Best Employers in 2024,” said Monique Forster, Chair of the DCDSB Board of Trustees. “I want to extend my sincere thanks and congratulations to the Board of Trustees, Senior Administration team, all staff, and affiliate representatives, for their continued efforts to ensure we live out our mission to be an inclusive Catholic learning community that inspires every student to achieve their full potential through faith and education.”
