Summer School Programs

DCDSB Continuing and Adult Education program provides accelerated, eLearning and remedial summer courses for secondary students. We offer something for everyone, whether you are looking to take courses to get ahead, or want to improve your achievement standing - we can help. The courses available in the summer include:

Secondary (OSSD) Credits 

Credit Recovery Summer School Courses
Duration: 2 weeks
Students must have taken the same course and level with in the previous TWO school years prior to summer school and have achieved a mark between 35% and 49% with no more than 15 class absences.

Accelerated Summer School Courses
Duration: 4 weeks
For students who wish to gain a credit in a subject they have not previously studied or who wish to upgrade a mark in a course that they have previously completed. Students may only take the equivalent of ONE accelerated course in the summer, regardless of mode of delivery (in class or eLearning).

Students taking an on-line course will be expected to log-in on a daily basis and meet all deadlines. Students should be able to commit to a minimum of 24 hours per week to online learning. Final exams for all Grade 11 & 12 courses (except OLC4O) will be written in a classroom at the end of the term.

*Normally, students who have been successful in the course previously (achieved a mark of 50% or higher) and who wish to upgrade such mark, MUST take the accelerated course (as per the Ontario Ministry of Education). For Summer 2021, students are eligible to take an upgrading course if they have already completed the course and passed. Students may upgrade a course in a credit recovery (55 hour/2 week class).
